PROJECTION – BAUHAUS DESSAU
The strict architecturally segmented, rectangular form of the glass facade builds the foundation of the facade projection called “CCCC”. The rectangles, the smallest (one window) to the biggest (the building) serve as size variable projection screens. At the facade animation these areas are used as screens for colors, pictures, videos, symbols, sounds, typography and animations.
Architecture begins where engineering ends.Walter Gropius
Every single element is taken from the Bauhaus. This variety of components can be combined via random effects, every combination is unique. The volume indicated by the audience determine live the size of the projection areas. The louder the smaller. The projection generates a graphic illusion at the architecture of the glass facade.
A B O U T
Walter Gropius, founder of the Bauhaus in 1919 and its director until 1928, designed the building on behalf of the city of Dessau […] the glass curtain wall suspended in front of the load-bearing framework defines the exterior of the workshop wing and openly shows the constructive elements. Gropius, rather than visually amplifying the corners of the cubic body of the building, allowed the glass surface to overlap the edges, thereby creating the impression of lightness.
